In the fall of 2005, a Faculty Working Group was appointed to serve as a source of advice on the arts at Carolina and its integration into the academic programs of the University.

Faculty Working Group Mission Statement

The committee will provide a source of formal and informal advice to the Executive Director of the Arts on such matters as how best to:

(1) Help the Performing Arts program become integrated with diverse academic programs (including those that are not generally thought of as representing the “performing arts”)

(2) Build a strong faculty constituency for the performing arts, perhaps through a “Faculty Friends of the Performing Arts” program

(3) Conduct outreach activities that will have the most beneficial impact on the educational and intellectual life of the campus. It will also provide advice on the desirability of a permanent faculty advisory structure, models for such a permanent structure, relevant functions and composition (taking into account the roles of other formal decision-making entities on campus).
