National Advisory Board

The Carolina Performing Arts Society National Advisory Board was created in 2005 to guide and support the Carolina Performing Arts series and other initiatives by the Office of Executive Director for the Arts.

The Board, under the leadership of its inaugural chair and vice chair, Jim Heavner of Chapel Hill and Barb Lee of New York, successfully met a $5 million endowment challenge by the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust by the December 31, 2007 deadline.

Today, the Board, led by Tom Kearns of Darien, CT and Jane Ellison of Greensboro, advises the organization in its mission to nurture the arts and creativity on campus and beyond.  We thank the twenty-one leaders who have agreed to join the staff and the University in ensuring that Carolina Performing Arts remains a leader in creating and presenting meaningful arts experiences
