Carolina Performing Arts and the Friday Center for Continuing Education present Chancellor Emeritus Dr. James Moeser in two lectures on The Genius of Bach in conjunction with performances by Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir with Ton Koopman, conductor. The concerts on March 14 and 14 feature Johann Sebastian Bach’s masterpieces Mass in B-minor, BWV 232 on March 13, and the Magnificat, BWV 243, and Cantatas 104 and 147 on March 14.

February is Black History Month, and Carolina Performing Arts is hosting pre-performance discussions entitled “African-American Legacies in the Performing Arts: Then and Now,” that bring to the forefront the contributions of African-American in the arts. These conversations are part of Carolina Performing Arts’ pre-performance lecture series, Program Notes LIVE, featuring informal discussions prior to shows at Memorial Hall.

Tonight, PBS American Masters premieres A Good Man, a 90-minute film that chronicles the intense creative journey of Bill T. Jones as he tackles the most ambitious work of his career and leads the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company in the creation ofFondly Do We Hope... The same is true of the Office of the Executive Director for the Arts at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
