Carolina has over 600 student organizations that plan activities, programs, and services that address a wide span of interests. A large number of those groups are arts organizations that present hundreds of arts events annually. The fall and spring semesters are filled with recitals, dance performances, theater pieces, concerts, speakers, spoken word artists and much more.
Achordants
Founded in the spring of 2001, the Achordants formed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a mission to entertain and to promote the message of diversity through music. Using tight harmonies and a lighthearted appeal that pleases any audience, the group's diverse repertoire, ranging from gospel to Scottish folksongs, is a reflection of the group members' individuality. In the Spring of 2005, the Achordants became the South Regional Champions at the at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, securing them a spot on the stage of NYC's Lincoln Center. The group, however, never loses sight of its mission statement, and continues to hold a rich tradition of advocating charitable causes. Perhaps most importantly, the Achordants believe that the key to collegiate a cappella is to have fun, and to not take oneself too seriously!

Ballroom Dance Club and Team
The purpose of the Ballroom Dance Club is to provide the University community a social and/or competitive environment in which to learn and practice the art of ballroom dance; membership is open to any individuals desiring to enhance their recreational enjoyment and to develop their social partner dancing skills.

Bhangra Elite
Bhangra Elite is a dance group specializing in the dance form of Bhangra. Bhangra is a Punjabi style of dancing that is very upbeat and energetic. The rhythm of bhangra music lends itself to mixing with hip-hop, and very popular beats.
The group was founded in the fall of 1996 and has grown into a nationally-competitive Bhangra dance team. Bhangra Elite has attended Bhangra Blowout 3 of those years.
Bhangra Elite also performs on the UNC Campus and at private venues.

Cadence
Cadence, one of the universitys most up-and-coming groups on campus, now boasts an overflowing repertoire of eclectic music singing everything from hip hop to bluegrass and consisting of intelligent, diverse, talented women.

Carolina Bands
The UNC Band was formed in 1903 with the first performance occurring in 1904 at an UNC Baseball game.
The UNC Bands are dedicated to maintaining the musical traditions and integrity of the University. The concert ensembles have formed an artistic partnership with the Prague Conservatory that led to the formation of a Czech/American wind ensemble during the spring semester of 2003, and have performed at the Southern Divisional conference of the College Band Directors National Association, for conducting workshop sponsored by the Conductors Guild, and in Carnegie Hall. The athletic bands have performed in the 54th Presidential Inaugural Parade, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, several bowl games, and numerous ACC and NCAA tournaments games, including the 2005 National Championship game won by the Tar Heels men's basketball team.

Carolina Photography Association
The Carolina Photography Association is a student photography club at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The club was founded in 1997 and is a growing organization on campus. Members are given full access to the CPA darkroom and invited to various photography workshops throughout the year. The main goal of the CPA is to make photography a fun and easy activity for all students despite experience.

Comprised of sixteen unique individuals, THV has evolved over time yet many of their founding mottos have remained intact. Playing the part of the university's premier co-ed a cappella ensemble, THV has always prided themselves on their diversity of membership and eclectic repertoire. They continue to perform for various university functions and community events while maintaining a solid reputation of musicality, camaraderie and brotherhood with other universities along the east coast and with the NCCA (National Competition of Collegiate A Cappella).

The Carolina Union Activities Board is a student programming organization that uses one third of the student activities fee to provide social, cultural, educational and entertaining events for the Carolina community.

Chapel Hill Players
The Chapel Hill Players, otherwise known as CHiPs, have been entertaining audiences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 1996. A student-run organization, CHiPs' short- and long-form improv and sketch comedy shows have become a fixture on UNC's campus.

Clef Hangers
The Clef Hangers are a UNC-Chapel Hill all-male a cappella group.
Founded in 1976 by a group of undergraduate students at Carolina, the UNC Clef Hangers boast a rich tradition of delighting crowds all across the world, from Scotland to Switzerland to New York to Los Angeles. The UNC Clef Hangers offer a varied and extensive selection of songs, which appeals to all ages and musical tastes. Recently, the Clefs have appeared twice on the Best of College A Cappella compilation CDs, and have been nominated on several occasions for the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards.

Company Carolina
Company Carolina is one of the most critically acclaimed student theater organizations at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; founded in 1994, we are currently in our tenth season. As for the performances themselves, Company Carolina has run the gamut of shows. From Shakespeare to Andrew Lloyd Webber, Company Carolina has produced a long line of sold out houses. Far more than a few of them have heard the praise of the media; our shows have received rave reviews in The Daily Tar Heel, Citysearch, The Chapel Hill News, as well as the The News and Observer. Company Carolina offers the theater patron a chance to see a quality show at an affordable price. Our ticket prices, never exceeding $10, allow us to attract and maintain a strong following not only on campus, but also the surrounding Triangle community. Company Carolina tries to give back to this community as well. In the past we have performed benefits for the Ronald McDonald House, InterFaith Community Shelter, the UNC Dance Marathon, and The American Red Cross.

Film and Philosophy Club
The purpose of the Film and Philosophy Club is to watch, enjoy, and discuss the art of cinema. The club is to meet two times a month to watch films from genres, studios, directors, etc. that are not shown regularly in mainstream American theatres. After the showing of each film a discussion is to be held in order to achieve a better understanding of the creators intent and a higher appreciation of the material.

Heels to Heaven
Heels to Heaven (H2H) is a contemporary Christian choir at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The group is comprised of about 50 members and sings compositions from a variety of musical genres ranging from contemporary Christian to gospel to classic-rock. A band including keyboard, drums, and guitar accompanies the choir on most songs. Aside from concerts on campus, we perform at many other types of venues including children's homes, homeless shelters, prisons, and juvenile detention centers. H2H has performed all over the state of North Carolina, Virginia, and in parts of Georgia and South Carolina.

Inversions Modern Dance Company
Inversions Modern Dance Company was founded at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in late 2002 by nine students who needed a modern dance outlet that was not at the University. The nine founders all are alumnae of W.G. Enloe High School in Raleigh, N.C., and danced in the program there.
Inversions choreographs all their own material, unless a guest choreographer is asked to prepare a dance.

Kamikazi Dance Team
Kamikazi was started in 1996 as the first co-ed dance team at Carolina. The team's name is derived from "Kamikaze" which is a Japanese word that means "Divine Wind."
True to its name, Kamikazi is an active participant in many fundraisers and charity events. The team is composed of dedicated people who are concerned for their community as well as the welfare of their teammates.
Every year, Kamikazi attracts new and vibrant people with their own talents and styles. Nevertheless, the spirit of Kamikazi lives on in a diversity-oriented, unified dance team committed to our highly-practiced routines and shows. We enjoy performing a variety of dance styles including hip hop, jazz, break dancing, popping, locking, and more!

Now in its 59th season, The Lab! Theatre is the oldest student theatre company on the UNC campus. Dedicated to artistic achievement and social opportunity, The Lab! is entirely student produced, directed, acted, designed, and crewed. Under the auspices of the Department of Dramatic Art, the Lab!s management is overseen by the The Lab! Board a group of students elected and appointed each Spring.

UNC Modernextension is a modern dance company that performs several times throughout the school year. Auditions are held each fall. At present there are twenty four members who, despite their chosen academic fields, have shown their love for dance through their commitment of time and energy to the Company. Mu Beta Psi is one of the nation's oldest musical fraternities. Founded on the campus of North Carolina State University in November 1925, the fraternity has grown and matured through the addition of each new chapter. Mu Beta Psi is a group of men and women from many places with many interests -- but with one thing in common . . . they share a love for music. Mu Beta Psi, by not requiring its brothers to be music majors, provides a unique opportunity for the many students with an active interest in music, to work together both musically and socially.

Pauper Players
Pauper Players is a student-run organization dedicated to bringing all musical theater productions to UNC-CH's campus. Established in 1989, Pauper Players produces a fall musical, a Broadway musical review,and a spring musical every year. Broadway Melodies, our annual mid-year musical review, is composed of four thematically different half hour sets by four different directors.
Pauper Players offers students an opportunity to participate in every aspect of musical theater production. Aside from actors, singers, and dancers, we are always recruiting directors, producers, stage managers, musicians, choreographers, stage hands, scenic designers, and costumers. Students can also participate doing business management or publicity on the organizational staff.

Sababa
Sababa was founded in 2006 by a group of students interested in sharing Jewish music with the community. We started out as a group of five people, and today we boast over 18 members! Sababa is an Arab word for cool that has made its way into Hebrew slang. Our repetoire ranges from religous music to secular Jewish music to just good ol' a cappella.

Star Heels Dance Team
Our organization seeks to provide the University community with an artistic outlet for those interested in dance; membership is open to all levels of dancers, culminating in a charity show at the end of fall semester and an additional spring show. We also participate in other shows on campus and in the community. We have danced at Dance Marathon, Dance Marathon Benefit Show (2004 and 2005), Earth Day, Olde Dirty Bash, Apple Chill, Triangle Youth Ballet and Friends Show, Carolina Vibe Show, WOW You Got Served Event, Carolina Preforms, the Children's Hospital, UNC vs Duke Basketball Marathon, and the Relay for Life Benefit Show.

UNC Men’s Glee Club
The UNC Men's Glee Club is the oldest continually existing choral organization on campus, with reports of performances dating back to at least 1892. The group has provided high quality choral music experience for literally thousands of alumni, many of whom serve or have served as professional musicians, teachers and conductors around the nation, and many more who have attained distinction in other fields outside of music. A notable alumna of the group is the well-known actor, Andy Griffith, who served the organization as its president during his tenure at the UNC-CH. The group has earned a reputation for distinguished performance of the best music for men's voices, and remains a popular musical choice for students today with a current membership of 36 men. Its repertoire is a widely-eclectic mixture of sacred and secular music in all styles and from all periods.

Wordshed Productions
Wordshed Productions, based in Chapel Hill, NC, and in San Jose, CA, is dedicated to the research, development, and presentation of literary adaptations. Wordshed believes that the necessary intimacy and immediacy of performance -- whether in the form of live theatre or film -- offers an ideal medium for the study and exploration of literature for both audiences and creators. In addition to its major production schedule, Wordshed also supports new works and adaptations by student performers and filmmakers. Since 1998, Wordshed has produced over 30 shows.
