Tony Award-winning choreographer Bill T. Jones’ new dance-theater work challenges and celebrates the legacy of Abraham Lincoln. By envisioning the America that might have been had Lincoln completed the Reconstruction, Jones will expose the great distance between what is and what could have been. Fondly Do We Hope…Fervently Do We Pray investigates a handful of key moments from Lincoln’s remarkable life, allowing song and memory to transport the audience beyond the boundaries of space and time.

Funded in part by the National Dance Project of the New England Foundation for the Arts, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and additional funding from the Ford Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Community Connections Fund of the MetLife Foundation.

In Cooperation with the Ackland Art Museum presenting Jacob Lawrence and The Legend of John Brown, Jan. 16 - May 9, 2010.
