It’s time to feel something new. Something electric! Something that pushes and pulls us, moves us, really moves us. Something a little wild. Something off the grid. It’s time for artistic experiences that surprise, motivate and empower us.
Imagine a conference table in the offices of a volatile corporation where something has gone terribly awry. Now imagine a group of colleagues all fighting for control of the situation.
This is the setting for "The Statement," the second piece in Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT)'s performance at Memorial Hall on 3/28 and 3/29. Check back for a look at the final piece (and go get your tickets! Time is running out!).
Three rooms. Three love stories. In “Shoot the Moon” Sol León & Paul Lightfoot lay human relationships bare for us to witness. In less than two weeks, the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) will perform this and two other works on our stage. Stay tuned for peeks at what else is to come!
Woody Guthrie's daughter Nora handpicked bluegrass legend Del McCoury to set her father's unfinished work to music. Here's why, in her own words:
"Those songs were written when Woody was coming out of Oklahoma, listening to the Carter Family and hillbilly music. I can't possibly explain to a 30-year-old what that was like. So I thought, 'Who don't I have to explain this to?' The answer was Del. That is just one of the many, many reasons I chose him. His style of playing, his voice, his band — there are so many similarities between Del and my dad." - Nora Guthrie, Rolling Stone
