Memorial Hall is one of the most exciting place to work on campus. Part-time positions exist for Tech Staff, House Staff & Box Office Staff. We also offer a very limited number of positions in our IT department. Please read below for descriptions of the positions.

Description of Positions:

House Staff: All new house staff members begin as ushers. Ushers are expected to work a variety of positions to provide customer service and oversee patron safety procedures at events in Memorial Hall, Gerrard Hall, and Historic Playmakers Theater. Hours vary by event; night and weekend availability is a must. Must be able to stand for the entire shift and lift 30 pounds. Prior experience is considered but not required. Must be available 2 week nights and 1 weekend night per week.

Tech Staff: All new tech staff members begin as technicians. Technicians are expected to assist with load-ins, set ups, maintenance, events and striking for Memorial Hall, Gerrard Hall, and Historic Playmakers. Hours vary by event. Prior experience is considered but not required.

Box Office Staff: All new staff begin as Sales Associates. Sales Associates provide excellent service to Memorial Hall Box Office patrons whether in person at the Box Office windows or over the telephone. Sales Associates are expected to represent the Memorial Hall Box Office and Carolina Performing Arts by always performing with the highest levels of customer service when processing ticket orders and handling patron inquiries. Sales Associates are expected to work 8-10 hours during weekdays. Evening hours vary by event, night and weekend availability is a must.

IT staff: All new IT staff will assist with general IT needs (general software and hardware support, maintenance, security, etc.) for Memorial Hall and Porthole Building. Work will be done during standard business hours (M-F 9-5). There may be rare nighttime/weekend work with advance notice. Prior experience is considered but not required. Must be available a minimum of 10 hours/week.

Carolina Performing Arts welcomes students and recent graduates who wish to broaden their educational and professional experience by working and learning with a performing arts presenting organization. Volunteer and paid internship opportunities with CPA provide valuable experience in all areas of arts management, including marketing, development, artist relations, and educational initiatives.

Internships are filled as needed. You may click on the job descriptions below to view position details.

Internships require an approximate commitment of 10 hours per week, during which interns complete projects and task work within their department. Additionally, CPA interns benefit from a robust program designed specifically for their professional development.

Applications will be considered for all open Internship positions within the organization. Therefore, you only need to submit one combined cover letter and resume when applying. Please indicate a primary and secondary choice for placement, as well as when you will be arriving on campus and available for interviews.

Preferred applicants will be those students who apply by September 1st for Fall positions, by January 10th for the Spring, and by May 20th for a limited number of summer positions.
