STUDENT JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Memorial Hall is one of the most exciting places to work on campus. Opportunities for paid employment currently exist for Tech Staff and House Staff. Opportunities for eligible work study students exist with our Ticket Services Staff and in our administrative office. Descriptions of the positions can be found below.

Tech Staff
All new tech staff members begin as technicians. Technicians are expected to assist with load-ins, set ups, maintenance, events, and strikes for Memorial Hall, Gerrard Hall, and Historic Playmakers Theater. Hours vary by event. Shifts are scheduled around student class schedules. Employees must be available for a minimum of 15 hours/week. Note that events dictate night and weekend hours; availability for both is a must. Candidates must be able to stand for the entire shift and lift and carry 40 pounds. Prior experience is considered but not required.

House Staff
All new house staff members begin as ushers. Ushers are responsible for the customer service (venue preparation) and patron relations (assisting patrons and audience safety) side of all events in Memorial Hall, Gerrard Hall, and Historic Playmakers Theater. Hours will vary by event. Shifts are scheduled around student class schedules. Employees must be available for a minimum of 15 hours/week (two weekday nights and one weekend night). Candidates must be able to stand for shifts lasting 3-6 hours and lift 30 pounds. Prior experience is considered but not required.

Ticket Services Staff
All new Ticket Services staff members begin as Sales Associates.  Sales Associates provide excellent service to Memorial Hall patrons whether in person at the Box Office windows or over the telephone. Sales Associates are expected to represent Memorial Hall Ticket Services and Carolina Performing Arts by always delivering the highest levels of customer service.  Day-time shifts are scheduled around student class schedules; however, events dictate night and weekend hours, availability for both is a must. Prior experience is considered but not required. Ticket Services staff positions are through the UNC Work-Study program; applications for Fall 2015 will open on the UNC Work-Study site on August 3rd. Administrative Office Staff
Students in this position serve as the first face visitors see when arriving at the Carolina Performing Arts Administrative Office in the Porthole Building. Staff are expected to greet and direct visitors, respond to phone and in-person requests for information, distribute mail and perform other tasks as assigned. Day-time shifts are scheduled around student class schedules. Prior experience is considered but not required. INTERNSHIPS

Carolina Performing Arts welcomes students and recent graduates who wish to broaden their educational and professional experience by working and learning with a performing arts presenting organization. Volunteer and paid internship opportunities with CPA provide valuable experience in all areas of arts management, including marketing, development, artist relations, and educational initiatives.

Internships require an approximate commitment of 10 hours per week, during which interns complete projects and task work within their department. Additionally, CPA interns benefit from a robust program designed specifically for their professional development.
