Bowing Before a Masterpiece: The Garden of Earthly Delights
Friday, February 1 | 6:30 PM | UNC’s Gerrard Hall
Created at the turn of the sixteenth century, artist Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights has long evaded singular interpretation and continues to fascinate modern audiences. In honor of the Compagnie Marie Chouinard’s interpretation of the painting through modern dance, Department of the History of Art doctoral students Miranda Elston, Brantly Moore, and Alexandra Ziegler discuss Bosch’s famously enigmatic work, elucidating the ways in which it resonates today.
