Returning to Memorial Hall each season, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) led by Wynton Marsalis showcases 15 of the most thrilling soloists, ensemble players and arrangers in jazz music today. With the belief that jazz is a metaphor for democracy, the Orchestra’s mission is to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education and advocacy. Their extensive repertoire includes original compositions by Mr. Marsalis and other orchestra members, premieres of works commissioned from a variety of contemporary composers, and the masterworks of Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane and other jazz giants.
