Misty Copeland in Conversation

Tags/Genres Speaker

In 2015, Misty Copeland made history as the first ever black woman to be promoted to principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in their 75-year history. Carolina Performing Arts is proud to welcome Ms. Copeland for a stirring conversation that will open CPA’s 15th anniversary season—one that amplifies programming featuring the creative leadership of women. Misty’s storied career extends to arenas outside of dance: she is a New York Times bestselling author, has performed on Broadway, and is a dedicated youth mentor. In this inspiring discussion with Susan Jaffe, dean of dance at UNC School of the Arts, Copeland will share observations about her career, diversity in classical ballet, and her hopes for the future of the discipline.

Please note: Ms. Copeland will not be dancing.
