ABOUT THE FUTURE IS FEMALE
Featuring dozens of compositions by women around the globe—including Chen Yi, Meredith Monk, Bernice Johnson Reagon, and Clara Schumann—pianist Sarah Cahill’s The Future is Female is both a ritual installation and communal feminist immersive listening experience. A “marathon” performance meant to be experienced uniquely, guests can enter and exit at will, sit, stand, and even explore the performance space.
With this physical manifestation of Cahill’s lifetime dedication to supporting the artistic work of women, she will illuminate works by women composers that range from the 17th century to present day.
Please note: This performance begins at 5 PM and is approximately 5 hours long. This is not meant to be a seated classical recital: Ticketholders are encouraged to come and go, bring snacks (no alcohol), explore the performance space, and make their own unique experience.
