Support / David Lowry Swain Society

David Lowry Swain Society

The David Lowry Swain Society was created after the renovation of Memorial Hall in 2005 to honor those individuals, families, corporations, and foundations who contribute $10,000 or more annually to Carolina Performing Arts.

Named after the 10th president of UNC-Chapel Hill and the 26th governor of North Carolina, Swain Society members believe deeply in strengthening and extending the mission of Carolina Performing Arts in presenting the highest quality artists in the world on the Memorial Hall stage.

Society members provide critical financial support that nurtures important relationships with great artists, enables commissions of new works, and sponsors engaging educational programs for students and community members.  Swain Society member support has been critical, for example, in bringing the Bolshoi Ballet to Memorial Hall in 2009 and for the extraordinary celebration, The Rite of Spring at 100, during the 2012-13 season.
