To Downtown Pay Lots

  • Take I-40W toward Chapel Hill
  • Take exit 273A – NC 54 West toward Chapel Hill. Continue straight.
  • When you reach campus, stay straight. The street turns into to South Road.
  • Turn right onto South Columbia Street.
  • Turn right onto Rosemary Street. There are pay lots on the left and right side of the street.

To Memorial Hall

  • Take I-40W toward Chapel Hill
  • Take exit 273A – NC 54 West toward Chapel Hill. Continue straight
  • When you reach campus, turn right onto Country Club Drive
  • At the second light, the road turns into Cameron Avenue. Continue straight. Memorial Hall will be on your left after 0.2 miles

To Downtown Pay Parking Lots

  • Take 15-501S toward Chapel Hill.
  • Once in Chapel Hill, when the road forks, exit right onto Franklin Street.
  • Continue straight into Downtown Chapel Hill
  • Turn right onto Henderson Street.
  • Take a left at the next light onto Rosemary Street. There are pay lots on the left and right side of the street.

To Memorial Hall

  • Take 15-501S toward Chapel Hill.
  • Once in Chapel Hill, when the road forks, exit right onto Franklin Street.
  • Turn left onto Raleigh Street.
  • Take a right at the next light onto Cameron Avenue. Memorial Hall will be on your left after 0.2 miles.

To Downtown Pay Parking Lots

  • Take I-40E toward Chapel Hill
  • Take exit 266 – NC86S toward Chapel Hill. You will now be on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Follow this road approximately 3.4 miles into downtown Chapel Hill.
  • Turn left onto Rosemary Street. There are pay lots on the left and right side of the street.

To Memorial Hall

  • Take I-40E toward Chapel Hill
  • Take exit 266 – NC86S toward Chapel Hill. You will now be on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
  • Follow this road approximately 3.5 miles into downtown Chapel Hill.
  • Cross over Franklin Street, then turn left onto Cameron Avenue. Memorial Hall will be on right after less than 0.1 miles

PARKING

Public Parking

There are several free parking options located on campus or within an easy stroll of Memorial Hall.

  • The Cobb Deck | 10-min walk to Memorial Hall Available weekdays after 5 PM and weekends all day There is no charge to park in Cobb Deck, but spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The UNC Global FedEx Visitors’ Lot | 15-min walk to Memorial Hall Located at the corner of Columbia and McCauley, behind The Carolina Inn. This lot is open to the public after 5 PM and on weekends on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The Venable Lot | 6-min walk to Memorial Hall Located at the corner of South Road and South Columbia Street

Reserved parking for those patrons with disabilities is available in the UNC Swain Lot located across from Memorial Hall.   Golf cart shuttle transportation is provided to and from the front entrance of the hall.

Donor Parking

Carolina Performing Arts reserves parking spaces for donors beginning at the Silver level ($1,000 and above). To reserve parking, or for additional details about donor parking, please contact Development and Stewardship Coordinator Jennifer Cox at (919) 843-2231 or jennifer_cox@unc.edu.

  • VIP Donor Valet Parking For David Lowry Swain Society members who contribute $10,000 or more each season, complimentary valet parking is provided. Valet drop-off and pick-up is on the east side of Memorial Hall in the Hanes Lot driveway.
  • Donor Reserved Parking Complimentary reserved parking is available to Gold and Platinum Society members ($ 500 and above). Parking is in the Bynum/Steele Lots on Cameron Avenue. Entrance at Bynum Circle, beside Historic Playmakers Theatre.
  • Donor Priority Parking Complimentary reserved parking is available for Silver Society members ($1,000 and above). Parking is in the Morehead Lot on Franklin Street.
Donor parking passes are mailed in August at the beginning of each season.

Valet Parking

Enjoy downtown with the ease of FREE valet parking at participating Franklin Street businesses. Valet stands are located on both East and West Franklin Street for your convenience. Drop-off and pick-up at either stand. Patrons enjoying non-participating establishments can also use the valet service for a $5 charge.

The valet operates Monday through Saturday, accepting cars from 5 to 9 p.m.

  • The East End Valet Stand is located on the north side of the 100 block of East Franklin Street, in front of Spanky’s Restaurant.
  • The West End Valet Stand is located on the north side of the 400 block of West Franklin Street, near the West End Wine Bar

Buses

Buses on Chapel Hill Transit are free of charge to riders and provide a quick, convenient way to travel throughout town. Several routes serve the Franklin Street area and can be found on the Chapel Hill Transit website. Just hop on any one of the lines and you’ll be to campus in a matter of minutes.
